Most shoppers spend more when they know they're close to free delivery. The Free over option lets you set a cart-total threshold for any zone — anything below pays the normal rate, anything above gets free delivery automatically.
How to set it up
- Go to Dashboard → Delivery
- Tap an existing zone, or add a new one
- In the Free over field, enter the cart total at which delivery becomes free (e.g. 5000)
- Save
Leave the field empty if you don't want a free-delivery threshold for that zone.
How it works at checkout
If a customer's cart total is below the threshold, they pay the normal zone rate. Once their cart hits the threshold, the rate drops to zero automatically — no coupon code, no fiddling.
Some shop themes show a "Add KES X more for free delivery" hint in the cart, nudging customers to add one more item.
Per-zone, not global
The threshold is set per zone, not across your whole shop. So you can have:
- "Nairobi CBD — KES 200 (free over KES 3,000)"
- "Other counties — KES 500 (free over KES 7,000)"
- "Pickup at shop — Free always"
Set thresholds based on what makes sense for each area. Far-away zones usually need a higher threshold to cover the higher delivery cost.
Pricing tips
- Pick a number just above your average order value. If most customers spend KES 1,500, set the threshold at KES 2,000. They'll add one extra item to "save" on delivery.
- Don't make it too low. If almost every customer hits it without trying, you're just giving away free delivery for nothing.
- Don't make it too high. If nobody ever hits it, the offer is invisible — customers never get the nudge.
Combining with coupons
Free-over thresholds and coupon discounts work together. A customer can use a 10% discount coupon and still hit the free-delivery threshold (the coupon discount applies to products, not delivery).
