Google Analytics gives you detailed insight into who visits your shop, what they look at, and where they come from. It's free and works alongside our built-in analytics.
Before you start
You need a custom domain connected to your shop.
Step 1 — Create a Google Analytics property
- Go to analytics.google.com
- Sign in with the Google account you want to use
- Click Admin (gear icon, bottom left)
- Click Create → Property and follow the wizard
- When asked, choose Web as the platform and enter your shop's full URL
Once done, Google gives you a Measurement ID that looks like G-XXXXXXXXXX. Copy it.
Step 2 — Add it to your shop
- Go to Dashboard → Shop and scroll to the Search Engines section
- Tap Analytics & Tracking
- Paste your Measurement ID into the Google Analytics ID field
- Save
What gets tracked
Once connected, Google Analytics automatically records:
- Page views
- Unique visitors and returning visitors
- Where visitors come from (Google, Facebook, direct, etc.)
- What pages they look at
- How long they stay
- Devices and locations
Tips
- Data takes 24–48 hours to start showing in Google Analytics. Don't panic if the first day looks empty.
- Use the Realtime report (left menu in Analytics) to confirm tracking works — visit your shop in another browser and you should see yourself appear within a minute.
- You can have both Google Analytics and Facebook Pixel running at the same time without issues.
Older Universal Analytics IDs
If you have an older Universal Analytics ID (starts with UA-), it no longer works — Google switched off Universal Analytics in 2023. You'll need to create a new GA4 property as described above.
