To use most marketing tools — Google Search Console, Google Merchant Center, Bing Webmaster Tools — you need to prove you own the domain. The easiest way is to paste a small verification code into your shop. We add it to your site automatically.
Before you start
You need a custom domain connected. The verification fields don't appear on free shop links.
Where to find the verification fields
Go to Dashboard → Shop, scroll to the Search Engines section, and tap Verification Codes. You'll see two fields:
- Google verification — for Google Search Console, Merchant Center, etc.
- Bing verification — for Bing Webmaster Tools
Verifying with Google
- In Google Search Console (or whichever Google tool you're setting up), choose the HTML tag verification method
- Google gives you a meta tag that looks like:
<meta name="google-site-verification" content="XYZ123abc..." /> - You can paste either the full meta tag, just the
content="..."value, or just the value itself — we accept all three formats - Paste into the Google verification field in your shop
- Save, then go back to Google and click Verify
Verifying with Bing
- Go to Bing Webmaster Tools
- Add your site and choose the Add HTML tag verification method (or a similar option)
- Bing gives you a meta tag or token. Copy it.
- Paste into the Bing verification field in your shop
- Save, then go back to Bing and click Verify
What we do behind the scenes
When you save a verification code, we add a meta tag to the head of every page on your shop. Google and Bing crawlers see the tag, match it against your account, and accept the verification. The tag stays in place as long as the code is in your shop settings — so verifications don't expire and your tools keep working.
Removing a verification
If you stop using Google Search Console (or Bing), simply clear the verification field and save. The tag is removed from your site immediately.
Other verification methods
Google and Bing also offer DNS-based verification (adding a TXT record at your domain registrar). This works too, but the meta tag method is faster — you don't have to leave your shop dashboard.
