If you're running Google Ads, the Google Ads ID field links your ads to your shop so Google can tell which ads turn into real purchases. This is what makes Google's automatic bidding work properly.
Before you start
- A custom domain connected to your shop
- A Google Ads account at ads.google.com
Step 1 — Find your Google Ads conversion ID
- Go to your Google Ads account
- Click Tools & settings (top right) → Conversions
- Create a new conversion action of type Website
- Choose Purchase as the goal
- Pick the Google tag setup method (formerly called "global site tag")
- Copy the conversion ID — it looks like
AW-XXXXXXXXX
Step 2 — Add it to your shop
- Go to Dashboard → Shop and scroll to the Search Engines section
- Tap Analytics & Tracking
- Paste your conversion ID into the Google Ads ID field
- Save
How it works alongside Google Analytics
Google Ads ID and Google Analytics ID do related but different things:
- Google Analytics tracks everything for analysis
- Google Ads ID tracks conversions for ad bidding
You can — and usually should — have both connected. They don't conflict.
Linking with Google Analytics
For best results, also link your Google Ads account to your Google Analytics property in Google Analytics admin. This sends Analytics audience data into Ads, making your ad targeting much sharper.
Tips
- If you're not running Google Ads, leave this field blank. It does nothing on its own — only useful with active ad campaigns.
- Google's reporting can lag 24–48 hours. Don't expect to see today's conversions immediately.
